Hemorrhoids: What are they?
Hemorrhoids are cushions of tissue rich in blood vessels that are found at the tip of the rectum.
Hemorrhoids are attached to the anal canal by fibrous ligaments that hold the hemorrhoid in place. In some cases, these structures become inflamed and swollen beyond measure, becoming visible to the naked eye. The dilation and inflammation of hemorrhoids can easily lead to prolapse, bleeding or thrombus , or the formation of a blood clot inside the hemorrhoids.
In all these cases we speak of hemorrhoids or hemorrhoidal pathology.
In the early stages, hemorrhoids appear as painful, swollen lumps that protrude from the anus, with burning And itching .
The triggering factors
The factors that cause hemorrhoid inflammation vary, including chronic constipation, overexertion, sitting on the toilet for long periods of time, an unbalanced diet and pregnancy, and taking medications.
Severity classification
The types of hemorrhoids differ according to the severity of the symptoms and can be divided into four degrees ; from the first barely evident to the fourth with total prolapse of the hemorrhoids.
At any stage of hemorrhoid disease, pain can still occur, even quite intensely.
Recurrence of these events requires surgical removal of the hemorrhoids (hemorrhoidectomy), which is also used to address more severe cases (grade 4 hemorrhoids, excessive and persistent bleeding).
Is there a miracle drug?
The answer is no. There are several medications that help alleviate the symptoms and provide relief or prevent the onset of symptoms. However, no treatment for hemorrhoids is curative or miraculous.
Depending on the symptoms, you can choose, under medical advice, to use ointments/creams for hemorrhoids or a drug to be taken orally.
