Description
VISCOFLU
nasal spray
Description
Medical device based on 3% hypertonic saline, with controlled pH, and 6% N-acetylcysteine. Indicated to facilitate the fluidification and mechanical removal of mucous and/or mucopurulent secretions stagnant in the nasal cavities (acute, subacute and slowly resolving rhinitis, chronic and muco-crusted rhinitis, vasomotor rhinitis) and in the paranasal sinuses (acute and chronic sinusitis), improving the symptoms and course of acute, subacute and chronic inflammation of the upper airways.
Viscoflu nasal spray thins thick and viscous mucus through the physical/mechanical action of its components:
- Hypertonic sodium chloride solution (buffered) : hypertonic saline solutions applied directly to the respiratory mucosa draw water from the intracellular to the extracellular compartment by osmosis. In this way they increase the percentage of water in the mucus that lines the epithelium, liquefying it and facilitating its removal.
N-acetylcysteine : acetylated variant of the amino acid cysteine, it has mucolytic activity that is exerted by direct contact with mucus. This activity depends on the presence in the molecule of sulfhydryl radicals capable of breaking the disulfide bonds of mucoproteins that confer viscosity to mucus by depolymerizing them.
Composition
N-acetylcysteine, sodium chloride; excipients: sodium hydroxide, sodium edetate, purified water.
How to use
For correct use, remove the protective cap, tilt your head slightly backwards, gently position the spray nozzle at the entrance of your nostril, press with two fingers on the base of the spray nozzle and spray 2-3 times in a row.
Clean the dispenser and replace the protective cap on the dispenser. Shake well before use.
The recommended dose is 2-3 sprays per nostril two or three times a day, for no more than 10 consecutive days, depending on the clinical picture to be treated. The treatment can be repeated several times during the year, interrupting the use of the product for at least one week between one cycle and the other. Use the product within 2 months of first opening.
Warnings
Viscoflu nasal spray has, after spraying, a sulphurous odour which does not in any way disturb the administration of the preparation. Wash the applicator after each application. It is advisable to carefully close the cap after use. Do not use in case of individual hypersensitivity or allergy to one or more components of the product. Prolonged use of topical products may give rise to sensitization phenomena; if such phenomena should occur, it is advisable to suspend treatment and consult a doctor. Keep the product out of the reach and sight of children. Do not use the device beyond the expiry date. Do not ingest. Avoid spraying in the eyes. The use of the same bottle by multiple subjects may facilitate the transmission of infections.
The expired device or in any case to be disposed of must be managed in accordance with the waste management regulations of the Local Management Authority. Do not, under any circumstances, dispose of the product or its packaging in the environment.
Conservation
Store at room temperature (not exceeding 25°C), away from light and heat sources. The expiry date refers to the intact and correctly stored product.
Validity with intact packaging : 24 months.
