How It Works
Skin prone to allergic reactions is characterized by a compromised barrier function that facilitates the penetration of external environmental aggressors (mites, pollution, etc.). This causes and aggravates the phenomena of irritation and itching. It is easy to imagine how the skin can react to unsuitable cosmetic products or to climate changes, but the harmful effects of other types of external aggressors, such as mites and pollution, are less evident.
Mites feed on dead skin on the skin surface, damaging the barrier function. This makes the skin more permeable to environmental aggressors and aggravates irritation.
The compromised barrier function also allows pollution, especially fine particles, to penetrate the skin, causing or worsening irritation 7 .
