Description
Medical device.
Sterile, disposable saline solution for washing wounds, sores, abrasions and burns.
Indicated for: - irrigation and washing during surgical operations;
- for moistening dressings, fabrics and clothes;
- for cleaning and rinsing bladder catheters, stomas, instruments and equipment;
- for filling breathing air humidifiers.

How to use
The amount of solution to use varies from case to case.

Components
1,000 ml of solution contains:
- sodium chloride in water ppi 9.00 g;
- electrolytes (mmol/l): Na+ 154, Cl- 154.

Warnings
Not injectable. Avoid exposing the product to direct sunlight.
Overdosage during wound irrigation and intraoperative application may lead to absorption of the irrigation solution which in turn may cause hypervolemia in the form of hypotonic hyperhydration (hyponatremia).
Headache, nausea, restlessness and disorientation are symptoms of overhydration. In severe cases, coma-like states may occur.
Interventions in case of overdose: interruption of irrigation, correction of the hydroelectrolytic balance depending on the particular clinical situation.
Do not use for infusions. Use only if the seal is intact and the solution is clear. Store in closed containers; any residual quantities should be discarded. Reuse of single-use devices creates a potential risk to both the patient and the operator. It may cause contamination and/or reduction in the functionality of the device, which may result in injury, illness or death of the patient. Keep out of reach of children. Where there is a risk of absorption of large quantities of solution, such as in the case of use in large cavities or on extensive lesions, do not use on hyperhydrated patients.
In such situations, it should be used with caution in patients with:
- hypertonic dehydration;
- hypokalemia;
- hypernatremia;
- hyperchloremia;
- disorders in which limited sodium intake is indicated, e.g. heart failure, generalized edema, pulmonary edema, hypertension, eclampsia, severe renal insufficiency.
NaCl 0.9% B. Braun should not be used for intrathecal irrigation procedures.

Conservation
Store between -25°C and +55°C, with humidity between 10% and 90%.
Validity with intact packaging: 36 months.
