Description
CPK COMPRESS-2
Description
Two-layer compression system designed to achieve continuous therapeutic compression.
Contains a padded compression bandage, a short-stretch cohesive elastic bandage for strong compression, both latex-free, and a stocking.
Both bandages have been designed to be applied together and achieve a comfortable and non-slip system during use.
The Padded Bandage is a soft, skin-friendly, conformable bandage with a slight cohesive effect that redistributes pressure to prevent injury to bony prominences. It is applied with minimal tension, similar to any padded bandage (50% overlap), providing gentle compression to the ankle. The short-stretch cohesive bandage provides adequate therapeutic compression.
By applying tension to the bandage until the indicators printed on the bandage turn into a square, it is easy to consistently apply the pressure prescribed by the operator. The bandages are printed with the word STRONG and the number 40 to facilitate overlapping on both the right and left leg, and to obtain different pressures as decided by the health worker.
If you apply a 50% overlap at 40, you will get a resting pressure of 40 mmHg in your ankle. If you need more pressure, you will apply a 66% (2/3) overlap at STRONG and you will get a resting pressure of 60 mmHg in your ankle.
The cohesive bandage of the second layer and the applied tension ensure compression for 7 days, ensuring treatment effectiveness and offering a better quality of life to the patient. The frequency of changing the compression system will depend on the condition of the wound and the assessment of the healthcare professional.
The stocking prevents wrinkles and/or creases in the cohesive elastic bandage, protects against friction when walking between legs, makes it easier to put on and take off shoes, and helps the bandage not to stick to sheets or other clothing.
CPK Compress-2 is indicated for the treatment of venous leg ulcers with ankle circumferences between 18-25 cm and 25-32 cm, lymphatic oedema and other clinical conditions where compression is appropriate.
The compression system is not designed or suitable for any use other than its intended purpose.
Components
The padding bandage (first layer) is composed of:
• White fabric 100% polyester;
• Transparent micro-perforated polypropylene bag.
The cohesive elastic bandage (second layer) is composed of:
• 100% cotton longitudinally elastic brown fabric;
• Cohesive mass without latex arranged in a thin layer uniformly over the entire surface of the bandage;
• Cardboard center;
• Transparent micro-perforated polypropylene bag.
Preformed sock 100% polyamide.
Warnings
Contraindicated in case of:
- decompensated heart failure;
- aseptic phlebitis;
- advanced diabetic microangiopathy;
- Phlegmasia cerúlea dolens;
- severe occlusive arterial disease in patients with an ankle-brachial blood pressure index (ABI) less than 0.8;
- known hypersensitivity to any of the component materials.
Measure the circumference of the ankle to confirm that it is greater than 18cm or 25cm (padding). Ensure the correct kit is fitted.
Always apply under the supervision of a healthcare professional. It is recommended to have adequate training for the correct application of the compression system. Verify that the patient's ankle-brachial pressure index is greater than 0.8 before applying the compression system.
Patients with known arterial insufficiency, decompensated heart failure or advanced diabetic microangiopathy may not tolerate compression. It should be used only on medical prescription, with careful monitoring and after appropriate treatment.
Excessive compression may affect circulation. The area of application should be monitored frequently for signs of discoloration, pain, numbness, tingling, or other changes in sensation and swelling. If these symptoms occur, the patient should remove the bandage immediately and notify the healthcare provider. If the patient initially does not tolerate full compression, the cohesive bandage may also be applied with less tension resulting in less compression.
Before applying, it is necessary to perform the usual diagnostic tests.
Wounds should be cleaned and covered with dressings appropriate to their condition.
Consult current international guidelines and local infection control regulations.
If the compression system becomes wet, loose, or no longer conforms to the shape of the bandaged area, it should be changed.
Do not reuse. Reuse may compromise product integrity or cause product ineffectiveness.
Any serious incident relating to the product must be reported to the manufacturer and to the competent authority of the Member State where the user and/or patient are established.
