Description
Micellar solution in aqueous phase, easily miscible with all liquids and foods. Tasteless and odorless. Indicated for the prophylaxis of rickets and Late Neonatal Hemorrhagic Disease (VKDB). Vitamin D3 has a hormonal effect on various organs: at the intestinal level it stimulates an increase in calcium and phosphorus absorption; at the bone level it causes mineralization resulting from the increase in calcemia and direct action on osteoblasts; at the renal level it causes a reabsorption of phosphorus. Vitamin D deficiency almost always results from the association of two factors: a decrease in endogenous synthesis and insufficient food intake. This deficiency situation can be further decompensated in individuals in whom physiological needs are increased. If a deficiency situation persists, a clinical picture of rickets occurs.
Phylloquinone causes gamma-carboxylation of amino acids in some proteins. Proteins whose metabolism requires gamma-carboxylation can be classified into three groups: phospholipid carrier proteins, present only in plasma: this group includes the vitamin K-dependent coagulation factors as well as two proteins that inhibit coagulation;
calcium salt transport proteins: this group includes osteocalcin, which is present in bones and plasma;
a group of less well-defined proteins that includes Vitamin Z present in plasma.
