Description
Food supplement with sweeteners based on acetyl L-carnitine, nervonic acid, some B vitamins (folate, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12) and theobroma cacao powder. Folate, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 contribute to normal homocysteine metabolism, normal psychological function and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. In addition, folate and vitamin B6 contribute to the normal functioning of the nervous system. Theobroma cacao contributes to normal mood as well as giving the product a pleasant taste.
Property
· Acetyl L-carnitine (ALC) : Acetyl L-carnitine, obtained through the esterification of L-carnitine with an acetyl group, is a source of L-carnitine for the body. Acetyl L-carnitine has a neuroprotective activity and is useful in age-related cholinergic cognitive deficits, such as senile dementia, Alzheimer's disease and various other neuropathies. L-carnitine has antioxidant effects in the body in addition to having a cardioprotective effect. While the acetyl component of acetyl L-carnitine contributes to the synthesis of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. The deficit of this neurotransmitter acetylcholine at the brain level is partly implicated in some dementia states related to ageing. In addition, acetyl L-carnitine also shows benefits in mood disorders, including major depressive disorder and dysthymia.
· Nervonic acid : Nervonic acid is a long-chain monounsaturated fatty acid. It is significantly present in nervous tissue and in the white matter of the brain. Nervonic acid is an important precursor of myelin biosynthesis. It is able to increase glutathione at the brain level by increasing gamma glutamate cysteine ligase, an enzyme responsible for the first step of its biosynthesis. Nervonic acid would therefore appear to have a beneficial role in the treatment of genetic disorders of lipid metabolism. It has also been observed that low levels of nervonic acid at the brain level are associated with demyelinating diseases such as multiple sclerosis.
