CDP-choline from International Literature
CDP-choline (Cytidinediphosphocholine or Citicoline) is a molecule present in the body. It is physiologically used as a precursor in the endogenous synthesis of phospholipids in the membrane of nerve cells, in addition to participating in the maturation processes of visual functions. CDP-choline is also used by nerve cells for the synthesis of acetylcholine, which is essential for the propagation of visual signals. It has been demonstrated that, in the case of altered visual functions, the specific and prolonged introduction of CDP-choline improves the transmission of electrical impulses from the retina to the brain.
