Directions for use
This device is designed to non-invasively measure systolic and diastolic blood pressure, heart rate and determine pulse pressure values in adults. Designed for easy and convenient use at home. The device is not suitable for use on newborns. Before using the device to measure blood pressure on a child, pregnant woman or pre-eclampsia, it is recommended to always consult with your doctor.

Measurement technique
This device measures blood pressure and heart rate using the oscillometric method. The cuff is connected to the main unit and wrapped around the upper arm. Sensors inside the cuff detect the small oscillations in pressure exerted against it as the arteries in the arm expand and contract with each heartbeat. The electronic system then measures the amplitude of each pressure wave, converts it into millimeters of mercury, and displays the value digitally on the large LCD display.

Measurement during inflation (Inflating Technology)
Inflating is the latest technology that guarantees direct measurement of blood pressure values only during cuff inflation, thus ensuring greater comfort thanks to the lower constriction force applied to the arm and its shorter application time. With this technology, the measurement procedure consists of three distinct phases. In the first phase, the device quickly inflates the cuff to a preset value ideal for securing the cuff to the limb and starting the second phase. The second phase begins when the device reduces the inflation speed of the cuff so as to allow accurate detection of the heartbeat. The third and final phase is the actual measurement of blood pressure values and begins when the heart symbol on the screen starts to flash in sync with the acoustic signal and ends when the device automatically deflates the cuff and displays the measurement result on the screen.

WHO classification of blood pressure values
The measured blood pressure values are classified as shown in the following table (WHO guidelines). When systolic and diastolic pressures fall into different categories, the higher class applies. For specific information about your blood pressure, we recommend that you consult your doctor. You should not draw any personal conclusions based solely on the indications provided by this device.

WHO CLASSIFICATION SYS (mmHg) DIA (mmHg)
Optimal <120 <80
Normal 120-129 80-84
Above normal 130-139 85-89
Hypertension (mild) 140-159 90-99
Hypertension (moderate) 160-179 100-109
Hypertension (severe) >180 >110
Isolated systolic hypertension ≥140 <90

Body movement symbol
The blood pressure value measured while the body is moving or while speaking is not correct, as it is potentially influenced by these conditions. When the device detects body movement, it analyses the pulse wave and displays a symbol indicating that the measurement result may be incorrect (the symbol appears on the screen at the end of the measurement together with the values found). In this case, it is recommended to not consider the displayed data valid and repeat the measurement after about 10 minutes.

Arrhythmia symbol
Pulse rate may vary when talking or moving, or when cardiac arrhythmia occurs. When the difference between the shortest and longest interval between pulse waves exceeds 25%, the device displays a symbol indicating an arrhythmia condition.

Memory function
The measured values are automatically saved in the memory channel, so that they can be reviewed at a later time. The device's memory can store up to 60 readings. When the maximum memory capacity is reached, the device automatically deletes the oldest reading in favor of recording the new one just taken. When the clock is running, the saved readings can be recalled together with the date and time of the measurement. *To save the date and time, it is necessary to activate the clock before starting the measurement. The device does not save results that have given rise to an error ([Err]).

Care and maintenance
It is recommended to always keep the device clean. It is a good idea to check that it is clean after each use and always store it in its protective case. To clean the main unit, simply wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use gasoline, thinners or other strong solvents for cleaning. The cuff can be cleaned by gently wiping its surface with a cloth soaked in detergent suitable for synthetic fabrics and then left to dry completely in the air. Always ensure that no fluids of any kind enter the air connector of the cuff and therefore the relative tube. If this happens, detach the tube and connector parts and dry them completely in the air. The cuff should not be rubbed vigorously or washed in the washing machine. During storage, do not place heavy, hot or sharp objects on top of the device and its accessories. Never bend the cuff with excessive force or wrap the cuff tube until it bends at an angle. To detach the cuff from the main unit, do not pull the cuff or tube, but grasp the air connector and pull it out gently. If the device has been stored below freezing, keep it in a warm place for at least 1 hour before using it. If you intend to store the device for a long period of time, remove the batteries. Keep the batteries out of the reach of children. As a precaution against potential problems caused by poor maintenance, impacts, incorrect use, it is recommended to check the blood pressure monitor every 2 years. This operation can only be performed by the manufacturer or by companies authorized by the manufacturer.

Tips on measuring blood pressure
Blood pressure is a measure of the force exerted by the heart when it pumps blood into the arteries and the resistance that the veins offer to this same flow. However, blood pressure varies easily throughout the day and under the influence of mental and physical factors, and is therefore never constant. In general, blood pressure is higher during working hours and tends to gradually decrease during the afternoon and evening hours. It is low during sleep and increases at relatively high speeds once awake and out of bed. Factors that influence and vary blood pressure values are:
• Body movements
• Conversation
• Mental tension
• Agitation
• Emotions
• Meals
• Intake of alcoholic beverages
• Recent urination or bowel movement
• Room temperature
• Changes in the surrounding environment such as movement, noise, etc.
• Smoke

Blood pressure readings taken at home tend to be lower than those taken in a hospital, clinic, or doctor's office. This is because people tend to be more anxious in hospital or outpatient settings and more relaxed at home (known as "white coat hypertension"). This is also why it is important to know the average value of your blood pressure when normally measured at home.
Always have your blood pressure readings interpreted by a qualified physician. Blood pressure readings may vary slightly depending on your age, weight and general condition. It is recommended that you never interpret the readings yourself.

For a correct measurement:
• before measuring your blood pressure, relax for about five minutes in a quiet environment;
• blood pressure should be measured while maintaining the correct body posture and, while doing so, one should neither move nor speak;
• before measuring your blood pressure (2 hours before), avoid physical effort, eating, drinking alcohol, smoking and other activities that influence your blood pressure value;
• measure your blood pressure at the same time every day;
• during blood pressure measurement the ambient temperature should be approximately 20°C;
• readings may however vary depending on the position assumed, whether sitting or lying down.

Preparing to use the device
Before using the device, you must install the batteries and activate the clock. The device will also work without adjusting the clock function, but in this case the data will be saved without any reference to the date and time to be consulted later. If the batteries are removed, the clock will stop working and will have to be adjusted again. The device (and the clock) can also be powered by its designated AC adapter (see specific paragraph of this manual).

1. Inserting the batteries
Open the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the main unit. Insert four "AA" batteries. Make sure the polarities are oriented according to the (+) and (-) markings inside the battery compartment. The batteries are easily inserted and removed by simply pressing the (-) pole against the spring.
If necessary, nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) batteries can also be used in this device.
NOTE: Batteries cannot be recharged directly from the device. For this purpose, it is necessary to use a charger of the type specified by the battery manufacturer. For more information on the use of these batteries, please read the instructions provided with the batteries.

Close the battery compartment. Do not apply excessive force to the cover when closing it. First, insert the two tabs into the designated holes on the main unit. Then, close the cover by pressing it completely and firmly.

When the batteries reach an inadequate charge level, the battery symbol starts flashing on the screen. In this condition, the device cannot be used for measurements.
It is therefore necessary to replace the entire set of batteries with new ones as soon as possible, taking care not to use different types of batteries or new batteries together with used batteries. With flat batteries (flashing symbol on the screen) the device cannot take measurements, but it is still possible to consult the measurements already saved in memory. In fact, taking measurements and inflating the cuff requires a greater amount of energy than is required to simply view the data on the display. Therefore, proceed as soon as possible to replace the batteries in order to be able to take new measurements. The batteries included in this package are only for initial use of the device and their life may be shorter than that of commercially available batteries. The batteries included in this package are not covered by the device warranty.

2. Adjust the date and time to activate the clock
The device has a date/time function that can be activated on the screen when needed. This function is initially disabled at the time of purchase.

Activating the date/time function
To activate the function, press the START/STOP button and immediately afterwards, while all the symbols appear on the screen, press the memory button M. In the same way the function can be turned off/on on the screen at any time.

Date/time adjustment
The first four digits represent the year. Press the M button to change it. Press the START/STOP button to confirm the selected year and proceed to the next adjustment. Press M to adjust the month and press START/STOP to confirm. Adjust the day, hour and minute in the same way.

Change date/time
Remove a battery and reinsert it when the screen is completely blank. Reactivate the DATE/TIME function and proceed with the new adjustment as indicated above. When the DATE/TIME function is activated, the time is always visible on the screen even when the product is turned off.

Operation with AC mains power supply
The AC power connector is located on the side of the device.

We recommend using only the AC power adapter specified by the manufacturer in this manual (ADP-W5 series).

When the device is used with the power supply, it is possible to remove the batteries from their compartment. However, as soon as you disconnect it, the watch deactivates and, therefore, to keep it always working, you can leave the batteries always inserted. Even if the batteries are left in the device with the sole purpose of keeping the watch working, it is suggested to occasionally perform some measurements without using the power supply, to prevent their prolonged disuse from becoming a cause of leakage of the internal liquid. Do not connect the AC adapter to an electrical outlet that is not easily accessible and/or not compliant.

Electrical Protection: This appliance is double insulated and protected by a primary thermal fuse against short circuits and overloads.
Casing and protective covers: the main unit is protected from any possibility of contact with live or electrically conductive parts (fingers, hooks, etc.).

Warnings: To avoid potential dangerous conditions, overheating, falls and/or accidental damage, it is recommended to unplug the power supply from the power outlet immediately after you have finished using the device. Do not leave the power supply connected to the power outlet for a long time.

Taking a measurement
Before starting the blood pressure measurement, it is necessary to insert the air tube connector into the respective air tube connection slot.
Warnings: the bracelet is applicable on arms with a circumference between 22 and 32 cm. Before starting, it is therefore advisable to make sure that your arm falls within these measurements.

Warning: To use the personal mode effectively, it is recommended to select the memory bank before starting the measurement.

1. Sit on a chair and apply the band
Use a table and chair that you can sit on comfortably, making sure your feet are flat on the floor and your arms and back can also be supported comfortably.
The cuff should preferably be applied to the left arm (or in any case always to the same arm as the previous measurements) so that the air tube coming out of it is facing the hand.

Warnings: If you apply the cuff over heavy clothing, tight clothing that may limit blood circulation in the upper part of the limb, or with the sleeve rolled up, the measurements taken may be inaccurate.

Wrap the cuff around the arm, securing it with the Velcro only after making sure that the lower edge is approximately 2-3 cm from the inner crease of the elbow.

The cuff should be snug but comfortable, leaving enough room to fit two fingers between the cuff and your arm.

Warning: If the cuff is wound too tightly or loosely than indicated, the measured values may be inaccurate.

Adjust the position of the cuff so that the air tube rests on the inside of the arm and above the brachial artery glide area. Press the surface of the cuff to ensure it is securely fastened.

2. The forearm should rest naturally on the table and during the measurement the band should be at the height of the heart.

Warnings: If the cuff is at a lower (or higher) level than the heart, the measurement values tend to increase (or decrease).

Caution: Breathe deeply and relax. Do not move or talk during the measurement session. Do not cross your legs during the measurement session. Do not hold your breath.

3. TURN ON THE DEVICE
Press the START/STOP button. The device releases air from the cuff. The device automatically starts inflating the cuff.

The inflation symbol disappears and the inflation slows down. As soon as the device detects a heartbeat, it displays the corresponding symbol on the display and begins measuring and identifying the blood pressure values. As soon as the blood pressure values have been detected, the device stops the inflation phase and begins to release air from the cuff, while displaying the measurement results on the display. For information on other event symbols, see
currently displayed at the end of the measurement see the paragraph "General information" .

For information on the [Err] indication that may appear at the end of the measurement, see the section "Error resolution" .

4. Turn off the device
Press the START/STOP button.
The device turns off. In any case, the device will automatically turn off after 3 minutes of inactivity.

Warning: never repeat measurements in quick succession, blood congestion could cause false readings. Let your arm rest for at least 5/10 minutes between one measurement and the next. Do not take continuous measurements throughout the day, limit yourself to those indicated by your doctor.

Viewing/deleting data in memory (memory function)
Turn off the meter with the START/STOP button once the measurement results are displayed. For information on the memory function, read the "General Information" section of this manual.

1. Touch the memory key
Press the memory button [M] to review the average of the last three saved measurements.
Note: No average value is displayed until two or more readings are saved.

2. Touch the same memory key again
The last reading saved in memory is displayed. The display alternately shows the reading sequence number, date and time. The most recent reading is displayed as memory sequence number "No. 1".
The results are recalled from the most recent to the oldest with each touch of the memory button . The highest record number indicates the oldest measurement.
