Description
Class IIb device.
Non-adherent polyethylene dressing impregnated with the patented L-Mesitran Soft gel containing: 40% medical grade honey, medical grade hypoallergenic lanolin (Medilan), propylene glycol, PEG 4000 and vitamins C & E.
When the gel comes into contact with the wound, fluid is drawn from the surrounding tissues. This creates a moist environment for wound healing. This environment stimulates the wound healing process: by facilitating the autolysis of necrotic and other devitalized material, it helps prepare the wound bed and promotes better migration of epithelial cells.
- Thanks to its strong osmotic activity, L-Mesitran Tulle has antibacterial properties.
- The gel will gradually dilute and can be easily removed according to local wound cleansing protocols.
- L-Mesitran Tulle is a primary wound dressing that should be covered with secondary dressings as appropriate.
- Being produced with natural ingredients, each batch of gel may vary in color (white - yellow - brown), maintaining its properties unchanged.
- The gel may contain visible sugar crystals; however, this will not affect the effectiveness and/or application of the gel.
- The white polyethylene film will allow exudates to pass into the secondary dressing.
Suitable for:
- chronic wounds;
- pressure ulcers (stage I-IV);
- venous stasis ulcers;
- fungal wounds (to help deodorize and/or debride);
- acute colonized wounds;
- surgical wounds;
- post-operative wounds;
- traumatic wounds (superficial wounds, cuts);
- minor burns and laser wounds (superficial and partial thickness burns).
Components
Eco-honey, medilan, propylene glycol, PEG 4000 (macrogols), ascorbic acid - vitamin C, vitamin E (DL-alpha-tocopherol acetate), polyethylene film (carrier).
Warnings
It is not indicated for:
- third degree burns;
- patients with a known sensitivity to honey or any other component;
- dirty, infected and heavily exuding wounds (must be cleaned first);
- deep, narrow cavities.
- Due to the dressing's low pH and high osmolarity, some patients may experience a mild, transient burning sensation when the dressing is applied. If burning persists and cannot be managed with an analgesic, remove the dressing, clean the area, and discontinue use.
- During initial use of the dressing (depending on the levels of wound exudate, interstitial fluid and edema surrounding the wound), the high osmolarity of the dressing may contribute to increased exudate. This can be managed by adjusting the frequency of dressing changes based on the level of exudate.
- Bacterial colonization in chronic wounds is always present and is not a contraindication to the use of L-Mesitran Tulle.
- During the healing process, due to autolytic debridement, it is normal for non-viable tissue to be removed from the wound resulting in an initial increase in wound size. Although an initial increase in size may be attributed to the normal removal of non-viable tissue, seek medical advice if the wound continues to enlarge after the initial dressing changes.
- After removing the dressing, if any material remains on the wound, cleanse the wound with a solution suitable for the treatment until it can be removed without difficulty.
- Consult a healthcare provider if you notice signs of infection, which may include increased redness, increased pain, increased wound drainage, increased skin irritation, and changes in wound color and/or odor.
- When opening and applying the dressing, make sure the pouch is not damaged or previously opened.
- L-Mesitran Tulle is for single use only.
Conservation
Store at room temperature 5°-25°C/41°-77°F. Store in a dry place. Do not freeze.
Validity with intact packaging: 36 months.
