Description
INOFOLIC Luteal
Food supplement based on myo-inositol, melatonin, vitamin D and folic acid useful for providing an additional quota of these substances, in case of reduced dietary intake or increased need.
The main biological role of myo-inositol is to mediate the message of important hormones including FSH, follicle stimulating hormone, necessary for the initial phase of the ovulatory cycle, defined precisely as “follicular”. Scientific studies have shown that follicles containing high concentrations of myo-inositol support the correct maturation of the oocyte and subsequently generate good quality embryos.
Melatonin is produced mainly by the pineal gland. After the age of 35, nighttime melatonin levels undergo a significant decrease, causing a reduction in the amount available for individual tissues, as in the case of the ovary. This decline is also correlated with a decrease in fertility. In fact, melatonin is essential for oocyte growth because it supports the luteal phase, a period that can be identified from about the 14th day of the ovulatory cycle and is dominated by LH, the luteinizing hormone. High concentrations of melatonin are in fact present in follicles containing mature oocytes. Furthermore, several studies have highlighted how sleep disorders linked to a melatonin deficiency can cause states of sub-fertility.
Vitamin D plays a key role in human reproduction by supporting the luteal phase of the ovulatory cycle, implantation processes and the physiological development of the fetus.
Folic acid is a water-soluble vitamin of the B group. It is involved in the synthesis of DNA, RNA and proteins, in the process of cell division and in the repair of chromosomes. It contributes to the normal growth of maternal tissues during pregnancy and its deficiency can determine an increase in intrafollicular homocysteine with consequent reduction in oocyte quality. Furthermore, scientific studies have shown that a reduced intake of folic acid is often related to fetal growth defects and the development of neural tube defects. Dietary supplementation of folic acid increases maternal folate status.
