Description
FOLINGRAV
Description
Folic acid food supplement, useful in case of reduced dietary intake or increased organic needs. The supplemental intake of folic acid in pregnant women contributes to the growth of maternal tissues and increases the maternal folate status. A low maternal folate status is a risk factor for the development of neural tube defects in the fetus. In women of childbearing age, the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily supplemental intake of folic acid of 400 mcg for at least one month before and up to three months after conception. The development of neural tube defects in the fetus is due to multiple risk factors; the intervention on one of these factors may not have a beneficial effect.
Property
- Folic acid : is a B vitamin that contributes to the growth of maternal tissues during pregnancy: it is essential for the increase of maternal red blood cells, the formation of the placenta, fetal, uterine, mammary and other maternal tissue growth. In addition to the benefits mentioned, folic acid contributes to the normal functioning of the immune system and the regular metabolism of homocysteine, an amino acid that when present in high quantities increases the incidence of cardiovascular disorders in both women and men.
