Description
FOLATEX
PLUS
Description
Food supplement based on DHA, folic acid (from Quatrefolic) and choline, vitamin D, vitamin B12, zinc and iodine, formulated specifically for pregnant and breastfeeding women. Daily intake of folic acid in women of childbearing age increases maternal folate status. Low maternal folate status is a risk factor for the development of neural tube defects in the fetus. Folate also contributes to the growth of maternal tissues during pregnancy, intervenes in the process of cell division, contributes to the normal synthesis of amino acids and normal hematopoiesis and supports normal psychological function. DHA taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding contributes to the normal brain development and vision of the fetus and newborn. Vitamin D, vitamin B12 and zinc intervene in the normal process of cell division. In addition, vitamin B12 contributes to the normal formation of red blood cells and zinc contributes to normal DNA synthesis.

The beneficial effect of folic acid supplementation during pregnancy is obtained with a daily supplemental intake of 400 mcg of folic acid for at least one month before and up to three months after conception. The development of neural tube defects in the fetus is due to multiple risk factors; the intervention on one of these factors may or may not produce the indicated effect. The beneficial effect of DHA on the fetus and newborn is obtained with the daily intake of 200 mg of DHA in addition to the recommended daily dose of omega-3 fatty acids for adults, which is equal to 250 mg of EPA and DHA.
