Description
UrgoK2
Description
UrgoK2 is a multi-component compression bandage kit that combines two different types of bandages: a short-stretch internal bandage and a long-stretch external bandage.
The combination of these two synergistic and complementary bandages guarantees effective, continuous and reliable compression therapy.
Both bandages in the kit are equipped with a technology called PresSure System which guarantees the application of the required therapeutic pressure (40 mmHg at the ankle) from the first application, maintaining it for up to 7 days.
This system consists of ovals printed on the back of the two bandages which become circular when the correct therapeutic compression is achieved.
These pressure indicators are also arranged in such a way as to guide the operator's hand in correctly overlapping the bandages, ensuring the right number of turns to create a therapeutic bandage that guarantees the right pressure.
- The white bandage (KTECH), of short extensibility, guarantees compression, protection and absorption. It generates a high pressure during activity and a low pressure at rest. Given its peculiar composition and regular weave, the bandage ensures maximum comfort for the patient and a good degree of absorption of exudates in the presence of venous ulcers, avoiding the creation of creases during application.
- The second pink/beige bandage (KPRESS), cohesive, external to the first provides the additional pressure needed to reach the therapeutic pressure of 40mmHg in the ankle. This bandage completes the system and helps to keep the bandage in place without tightening or creating creases and at rest ensures a maintenance pressure that helps venous return even during the patient's inactivity phase.
UrgoK2 is indicated for the treatment of venous lesions of the lower limbs, venous edema or lymphedema requiring strong compression.
Single use, non-sterile.
Latex free.
Technical features

How to use
BEFORE APPLYING BANDAGES :
- Examine the shape of the leg and identify any areas at risk of excessive pressure (e.g. bony prominences).
- Protect and reshape the leg with cotton wool padding if necessary. If there is a lesion, apply an appropriate dressing before bandaging.
- Measure your ankle circumference and make sure you have chosen the correct kit (ankle circumference 18-25cm or 25-32cm).
- It is preferable to apply UrgoK2 in the morning or after the patient has kept the leg elevated for an hour to minimize any orthostatic edema.
HOW TO APPLY
Kit for an ankle of 18-25 cm in circumference - 50% overlap:
1. Position your foot so that it forms a 90° angle - toes pointing up.
2. Start applying KTECH at the root of the toes, making two turns to secure the bandage, ensuring that the padded part is in contact with the skin and that the PresSure System pressure indicator is facing the leg.
3. Secure the heel using a figure eight, ensuring full heel coverage.
4. Move KTECH up the leg from the malleolus, pulling the bandage so that the pressure indicator (printed on the bandage) forms a circle reaching the therapeutic pressure. A correct overlap is achieved when the pressure indicator is slightly covered (50% overlap). End 2 cm below the popliteal fossa and remove any excess from the bandage. Secure with tape.
5. Apply KPRESS over KTECH using the same technique as KTECH. For patient comfort, leave a small margin of KTECH at the big toe and knee. Once applied, gently press down on the bandage to ensure complete adhesion.
Kit for an ankle of 25-32 cm in circumference - 2/3 overlap:
Apply in the same way as the 18-25 cm kit, covering the PresSure System pressure indicator which in this case is printed in the middle of the bandage (2/3 overlap).
Once the leg has been bandaged, any additional dressing should be discontinued and cut as extra dressing will increase pressure. Press gently to ensure complete adhesion. UrgoK2 should be left in place day and night until the next dressing change as advised by a specialist.
Warnings
Check that the ABPI (Ankle Brachial Pressure Index) is >0.8 before prescribing the bandage system.
In case of diabetes, cardiac arrest, advanced microvascular diseases, use UrgoK2 under strict medical supervision and following appropriate treatment.
If you have dermatitis, treat the infection before starting treatment with UrgoK2.
In case of an ulcer of rare origin (vasculitis, haemopathy, gangrenous pyoderma) UrgoK2 should be used only according to the opinion of a specialist.
The effectiveness of UrgoK2 has been tested and validated for the application of KTECH together with KPRESS. The UrgoK2 PresSure System has been specifically designed to facilitate the application; it is important to carefully follow the instructions to achieve the recommended therapeutic pressure.
If in doubt, consult your doctor.
Contraindicated for use in case of:
• Arterial conditions (arterial or predominantly arterial ulcers; known or suspected arterial disease).
• Ankle-Brachial Blood Pressure Index (ABPI) <0.8.
• Patients suffering from diabetic microangiopathy, ischemic phlebitis (phlegmatia coerulea dolens), septic thrombosis.
• Ulceration due to infection.
• Allergy to one or more of the components.
Conservation
