Description
Early, one-step lateral flow immunochromatographic test for the qualitative determination of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in urine used to diagnose pregnancy. It can be used as early as four days before the expected date of menstruation, calculated 15 days after ovulation. The test uses a combination of antibodies, including the monoclonal anti-hCG antibody, to selectively detect high levels of hCG. The test is performed by urinating directly onto the absorbent tip or by dipping the absorbent tip into the urine and the results are determined by the appearance of colored lines.
How to use
Remove the test stick from the foil pouch. Remove the cap and place it over the handle. Hold the test stick by the handle, placing the absorbent end directly under your urine stream for at least 10 seconds, until it is completely moist. Do not urinate on the window where the Test and Control lines appear. Alternatively, you can collect your urine in a clean, dry container and then dip the absorbent end of the test stick into the urine for at least 10 seconds. Immediately replace the cap on the absorbent end and leave the test stick on a flat surface with the Test and Control windows facing up. As soon as you begin testing, you may see a slightly pink color move between the Test and Control line areas. Read the result after 3 minutes. If no colored line appears, wait another minute. In some cases, positive results may be observed after about 1 minute, depending on the hCG concentration. Do not read the results after 10 minutes.
Reading results
-Pregnant: Two distinct colored lines appear, one in the test control window (C) and one in the test window (T). One line may be lighter than the other, they do not necessarily have to be the same; this indicates that you are most likely pregnant.
-Not pregnant: A colored line appears in the control window (C). No line appears in the test window (T). This indicates that you are most likely not pregnant.
-Invalid: The result is to be considered invalid if no colored line appears in the control window (C), even if a colored line appears in the test window (T). The test must be repeated with a new pregnancy test.
Limitations: The test may produce incorrect results. Consult your doctor before making any medical decisions. Medicines that contain hCG (such as Pregnyl, Profasi, Pergonal, APL) may produce false-positive results. Alcohol, oral contraceptives, pain relievers, antibiotics, or hormone therapies that do not contain hCG should not interfere with the results. Some medical conditions other than pregnancy, including ovarian cysts or ectopic pregnancy, can increase hCG levels, causing a false-positive result.
Warnings
