Description
Esteem+ Soft Convex
closed-ended
Description
Esteem+ Soft Convex Closed Bottom is a single-piece, opaque, disposable colostomy collection device. The pouch adheres to the skin using a differentiated-thickness hydrocolloid adhesive barrier.
The convex structure of the barrier allows for the management of stomas that are poorly positioned and inwardly positioned with respect to the skin surface.
The bag is equipped with a filter and is mainly indicated for colostomy patients who want a safe device that is easy to apply and remove.
The predisposition for hooking to the abdominal belt allows to guarantee a greater safety of adhesion of the bag. The bag, through an opening window on the external side, allows to monitor the correct positioning and to control the stoma if necessary during use.
Technical information
The hydrocolloid skin barrier (blend of caboxymethylcellulose, pectin and polyisobutylene) contains a 4 mm deep convex insert.
The hydrocolloid has a differentiated thickness and is covered on the adhesive surface by a transparent protective paper, easily identifiable and removable thanks to a tab.
On the protective paper, a circular cutting guide makes it easier to prepare the device.
The bag is equipped with an activated carbon filter that allows the release and deodorization of intestinal gases.
The bag is lined with a soft TNT sheet welded at the edges. The lining is present on both sides of the bag. On the outside, the sheet has an inspection window.
At the base of the skin barrier there are soft plastic rings for attachment to the abdominal belt to be added as needed.
The identification code is printed on the bag.
Adhesive surface: diameter 110 mm.
Bag dimensions: 145x205 mm.
How to use
Clean the skin around the stoma with water and dry with a soft cloth.
Make sure the skin is completely dry. Do not use oil-based products for cleansing because they may compromise the adhesion of the skin barrier.
Make sure you know the diameter of your stoma.
Esteem+ Soft Convex is available in a pre-cut version and can be cut to different sizes. If the bag is not pre-cut, you can use the cutting guide on the barrier if available.
It is very important that the hole in the adhesive barrier is customized to the size of the stoma. Cut the opening hole in the barrier to match the diameter of the stoma or slightly larger.
Allow a small amount of air to enter the bag to separate the layers. Warm the barrier by holding it in your hands for a few seconds to facilitate adhesion.
Remove the plastic film on the back of the skin barrier. Avoid touching the adhesive area too much with your fingers.
Place the skin barrier under the stoma. Starting from the bottom, adhere the barrier to the peristomal skin.
Smooth the adhesive surface with your fingers, applying light pressure around the stoma.
To remove the bag, gently peel off the adhesive barrier from top to bottom.
At the same time, keep your free hand placed on the skin above the barrier.
This helps avoid irritating the skin and makes it easier to remove.
Empty the contents of the bag into the toilet.
Warnings
The device is single use only and cannot be reused. Reusing it may cause infection or cross contamination. The device may not be as effective if reused.
If using a cut-to-size product, make sure the prepared hole is not too large. Empty spaces can cause skin irritation and redness. Be careful not to enlarge the size of the opening hole beyond the last circle drawn on the barrier cut-out guide or the edge, exposing the inner plastic of the convex disc.
Do not throw the bag into the toilet.
For disposal, follow local regulations.
The need for the use of a convex device must be assessed by a healthcare professional.
Conservation
Best before date from production date, in intact packaging: 60 months.
Format
Each pack contains 30 bags and 30 filter cover stickers.
*profile: plateau size (V1=30 mm, V2=40 mm, V3=50 mm)
