Macrogol
Description
Symptomatic treatment of constipation. Powder for oral solution. Acts within 24-72 hours. Macrogol is a high molecular weight, water-soluble inert polymer that has the ability to bind to the water used for intake, retaining it in the stool. It determines rehydration and softening of the fecal mass and facilitates evacuation. It accelerates intestinal transit by promoting peristalsis, counteracting constipation and preventing the formation of fecalomas. It is not absorbed or metabolized in the gastrointestinal tract and does not lead to hydro-electric imbalances, if taken with the indicated dose of liquid.
How to use
Use the measuring cup included in the package to measure the powder: fill it level and not pressed, then remove the excess quantity of product with the blade of a knife.
-Adults and children over 12 years old:
2 to 10 level measuring spoons per day. The dose should be increased or decreased, depending on the individual response to treatment, to allow regular evacuation of soft stools. The maximum dose required does not normally exceed 10 measuring spoons per day. Dissolve the powder in water or other liquid (50 ml per measuring spoon) and take immediately. It is recommended to administer the product in the morning if the minimum dose (2 measuring spoons per day) is to be taken. For larger doses, divide the intake between morning and evening. If no improvement is noted after 7 days of treatment, consult your doctor.
-Children aged between 6 months and 12 years:
From 6 to 10 kg: 1 level scoop per day;
From 10 to 15 kg: 1-2 level scoops per day;
From 16 to 20 kg: 2-3 level scoops per day;
21 to 43 kg: 3-4 level scoops per day.

Warnings
Keep out of reach of children. It is recommended to use the product in pediatric age after consulting your doctor. Administration in children must be carried out under the direct supervision of an adult. Consult your doctor before use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package. Do not use if the package is opened or damaged. The product can reduce the time spent in the intestine and therefore the absorption of oral medicines. It is therefore advisable to consult your doctor in case of simultaneous intake of oral medicines, which must, in any case, be administered at least 2 hours apart. In case of adverse reactions, stop treatment and consult your doctor. Do not take in case of:
-Known hypersensitivity to one or more components;
-Paralytic ileus;
-Intestinal perforation, obstruction or stenosis;
-Severe inflammatory bowel disease (e.g. ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, toxic megacolon). The use of laxatives is contraindicated in the presence of acute or unknown abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, rectal bleeding of unknown origin and in severe dehydration.
Some gastrointestinal disorders may occur (stomach ache, flatulence, abdominal swelling, nausea and fecal incontinence). Diarrhea is a secondary effect of taking excessive doses of the product, and can be avoided by reducing the dose. Rare cases of hypersensitivity reactions (skin rash) have been reported following the use of products containing macrogol. In this case, stop treatment and consult your doctor.
Conservation
Store in a cool, dry place, away from light and heat sources. Close the container carefully after use. The expiry date refers to the product stored correctly.
