Description
REDOX
drops
Description
Food supplement of ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) first line of defense of the organism against free radicals and ensures protection from oxidizing agents that are toxic to the cell. Its central role in the correct functioning of the immune system is widely recognized. Its numerous functions are attributable to the ability to oxidize and reduce reversibly (oxidation-reduction reaction or redox):
- regenerates the anti-radical activity of vitamin E in tissues;
- promotes the reduction of folic acid in its coenzyme forms;
- promotes intestinal absorption of iron by reduction from Fe3+ to Fe2+.
Ascorbic acid is the essential cofactor of enzymes that catalyze hydroxylation reactions of proline and lysine for the formation of collagen, the main protein of connective tissue. Vitamin C deficiency can cause alterations of the blood vessel wall with the appearance of hemorrhages.
