Tick Remover Pliers
Directions:for easy removal of the tick from the skin.
How to use:
- hold the forceps and grasp the tick firmly, as close to the skin as possible; press the upper button to allow the tick to be grasped and release it slowly; rotate gently counterclockwise and pull lightly, but without jerking, to avoid breaking it;
- protect your hands with gloves or a handkerchief during the operation, to avoid the possibility of infection through small skin lesions or self-inoculation via the conjunctiva or oral route;
- if the tick's rostrum remains inside the skin, remove it with the help of a sterile needle. Any remnants of the tick's body remaining in the skin usually do not cause any consequences;
- apply disinfectants and antibiotics to the area only after the tick has been removed, avoiding those that color the skin (tincture of iodine, mercurochrome) because they could mask signs of infection;
- the removed tick must be placed in a closed container with alcohol, petroleum or other substance to be killed. It must absolutely not be crushed because its eggs would spread everywhere;
- removal of the tick should be followed by an observation period of 30-40 days to detect the appearance of any signs and symptoms of infection at the site of the bite, which is called Erythema Migrans.
