Description
Medical device in powder form for extemporaneous oral suspension useful in the treatment of constipation. PEGinpol is particularly indicated in chronic constipation and in cases of occasionally irregular bowel movements. PEGinpol is a medical device with a laxative action that, through an osmotic action, regulates the bowel in a natural way. Thanks to its affinity for water, PEGinpol softens the stool, facilitating evacuation without causing cramps, abdominal pain or emergency conditions. It is not absorbed or fermented in the intestine, does not irritate the mucosa and is eliminated in the stool in an unchanged form. Its effectiveness does not decrease over time.
Ingredients
One bottle contains: 400 g of Macrogol 3350.
Excipients: silicon dioxide, flavouring, sodium saccharin.
It does not contain gluten or lactose .
How to use
From 6 months to 2 years (up to 12 kg): 0.8 g of product per kg of body weight per day.
From 2 to 11 years (from 12 kg to 20 kg): 1 g of product per kg of body weight per day.
Above 11 years (or >20 kg): 10-30 g of product per day.
The dose may be increased or decreased depending on the individual response to treatment. The most appropriate daily dosage for each age group is to be decided based on the child's weight and the severity of the constipation. In any case, it is advisable to seek the advice of a doctor for the most appropriate dosage. Use the product in pediatric age only after medical advice. The maximum necessary dose does not normally exceed 30 g of product per day. Based on the dosage indicated above, take the quantity of product using the measuring cup with notches that allow you to dose 0.5 g (first notch), 1 g (second notch) and 2 g (level measuring cup) of product. Dissolve a level measuring cup (equal to 2 g) in approximately 1/4 glass of water (about 25 ml). Drink the reconstituted solution. It is possible to divide the daily dose into several administrations. The product can be reconstituted in advance in the appropriate volume of water and the solution stored in the refrigerator covered for up to 24 hours. It is recommended to take PEGinpol away from meals.
Warnings
The oral suspension must be prepared at the time of intake. It is recommended not to take larger quantities than those indicated, as higher doses may cause the onset of unexpected side effects. Do not use PEGinpol for more than 30 consecutive days, if symptoms persist consult your doctor. Do not take in case of intolerance to the product. Do not take in case of known hypersensitivity to the components and to Polyethylene glycol. Do not use in children under 6 months. During treatment with PEGinpol it is advisable to follow an appropriate diet accompanied by the administration of an oral rehydration solution (ORS) to avoid dehydration; however, it is advisable to consult your doctor. Do not use the device after the expiry date indicated on the package. Do not use if the package is damaged. Keep out of reach of children. If you miss a dose, do not take a double dose, but wait and take the next dose. In case of adverse reactions, stop using the product and contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
Conservation
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C, in the original packaging. The expiry date indicated refers to the product correctly stored in an intact package.
Validity with intact packaging: 36 months.
