Description
Normalene Macrogol 3350 is a medical device with laxative action that, through an osmotic action, regulates the intestine in a natural way. It is not absorbed or fermented in the intestine, it does not irritate the mucosa and is eliminated in the feces in an unchanged form. Normalene Macrogol 3350 is particularly indicated in chronic constipation and in cases of occasionally irregular intestine. In fact, thanks to its affinity for water, Normalene Macrogol 3350 softens the feces, facilitating evacuation without causing cramps, abdominal pain or conditions of urgency. Its effectiveness does not decrease over time.
Ingredients
Each sachet (full dose) contains 13.125 g of Macrogol 3350. Excipients: silicon dioxide, flavouring, sodium saccharin.
Gluten and lactose free.
How to use
Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, it is advisable to use Normalene Macrogol 3350 in the following ways:
Adults, elderly and children from 12 years: 1 full dose sachet (13.3 g) 1-3 times a day. In case of prolonged use, the dose can be reduced to 1-2 sachets a day.
Open the sachet along the line indicating "full dose" and dilute the contents in 125 ml (approximately 1 glass of still water).
Children 7 to 11 years: half a sachet (6.65 g) twice a day.
Children aged 3 to 6 years: half a sachet (6.65 g) once a day.
Open the sachet along the line indicating "half dose" and dilute the contents in 62.5 ml (about half a glass of still water).
Do not administer the product to children under 3 years of age.
Warnings
Do not use the product under 3 years of age. During pregnancy or breastfeeding, take Normalene Macrogol 3350 only after consulting your doctor. It is recommended not to take quantities greater than those indicated, as higher doses may cause the onset of unexpected side effects.
For periods of use exceeding 30 days, it is recommended to interrupt treatment with Normalene Macrogol 3350 for at least 3-5 days. Do not take in case of intolerance to the product. Do not take in case of known hypersensitivity to the components and to Polyethylene glycol. Each sachet is single use and should be opened only at the time of use.
Contraindications :
Do not take Normalene Macrogol 3350 if you have:
- Intestinal stenosis;
- Intestinal perforation;
- Inflammatory bowel diseases (such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis).
Do not take in case of intestinal obstruction. There is no experience on taking during pregnancy and breastfeeding therefore take Normalene Macrogol 3350 only in case of real need on medical advice.
In patients with renal insufficiency, it is not necessary to modify the dose. The duration of treatment with Normalene Macrogol 3350 should not exceed 2 weeks. If necessary, the treatment can be repeated. Prolonged use may be necessary in case of refractory and/or chronic constipation. Such constipation can be caused by taking painkillers (opioids) and for the treatment of Parkinson's disease (anticholinergics) or appear in case of pathologies such as multiple sclerosis or Parkinson's disease that can cause refractory constipation.
Side Effects :
Gastrointestinal disturbances, rumbling, abdominal pain, nausea and mild diarrhea (especially at the beginning) may appear. Hypersensitivity reactions rarely occur. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if adverse reactions occur, even if different from those listed. If you forget to take a dose, do not take a double dose, but wait and take the next dose.
Interactions with Drugs and Food Supplements :
To date, no interactions with drugs are known, but it is advisable to take the product at least 2 hours after taking drugs administered orally, since the osmotic power of Macrogol and the increase in gastrointestinal transit speed induced may negatively affect their effectiveness. In any case, consult your doctor before taking Normalene Macrogol 3350 if you are undergoing other therapies.
Conservation
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C, in the original packaging. The expiry date indicated refers to the product correctly stored in intact packaging. Do not use the device after the expiry date indicated on the packaging and on the sachet. Do not use if the packaging is damaged. Do not reuse partially used or opened sachets at unknown times, as this method of use could lead to risks of contamination of the product. Keep out of reach of children. The expiry date refers to the product in intact packaging, correctly stored.
