Description
Biatain Super
CE medical device, class III, single use.Adhesive hydrocapillary dressing. Does not contain phthalates.
Sterile superabsorbent adhesive dressing for medium to highly exuding wounds consisting of a highly absorbent hydrocapillary pad, delimited by a hydrocolloid adhesive which, in addition to fixing the dressing to the perilesional skin, prevents maceration.
The pad also features a non-adherent polyethylene (HDPE) mesh as an interface with the wound bed. The HDPE acts to maintain the correct level of moisture in the wound (moist but not wet) and prevents adhesion between the dressing surface and the wound bed.
The hydrocapillary pad is composed of polyethylene, cellulose fibers (CMC) and SAP (Super Absorbent Particles in sodium polyacrylate polymers). The “hydrocapillary” effect is given by the instantaneous, vertical and horizontal absorption of the exudate. In fact, the cellulose polymers and SAP, in contact with the exudate released by the lesion, change phase by gelling, so as to retain the exudate inside the pad even under compression.
The external layer in polyurethane film with high oxygen permeability creates a barrier against exogenous bacteria and external pollutants and ensures high breathability.
Directions
Acute and chronic, medium to highly exuding skin lesions.
Average dwell time (medium to highly exuding wounds and ulcers): 3 days.
Maximum time on site: 7 days.
Contraindications and incompatibilities
In case of allergic reactions, please contact Coloplast for information on the components. Biatain dressings and secondary dressings must be removed before radiation treatment (X-ray, ultrasound, diathermy and microwaves). Do not use Biatain dressings with oxidizing solutions such as hypochlorite and hydrogen peroxide.
Composition
Cellulose fibres (CMC), siliconised polyethylene terephthalate (HDPE), sodium polyacrylate, thermoplastic elastomer, dioctyl adipate (DOA), hypoallergenic hydrocolloidal layer, microporous TNT layer, back made of polyurethane film.
