How to use
Application
Wash your hands thoroughly before and after application. After donning gloves, clean the wound and the surrounding area with a gentle stream of water or saline. Do not dry the wound surface. Remove the impregnated gauze from both sides of the single-dose paste or open the packaging (pouch or aluminum tube). Conform the dressing to the wound surface. Cover the wound completely with an appropriate secondary dressing. Apply a compression bandage, where indicated.
Change
IODOSORB should be changed when it is saturated with exudate and has released all the iodine. This is indicated by discoloration, usually two or three times a week. If the wound is very exudative, it may be necessary to change the dressing every day. If necessary, wet the residue for a few minutes before removing it. Gently remove IODOSORB using a jet of water or saline. Before reapplying IODOSORB, gently absorb any excess fluid, leaving the wound surface slightly moist.
Warnings
There is a potential risk of interaction with lithium, resulting in an increased likelihood of hypothyroidism. Do not use IODOSORB concomitantly with mercurial antiseptics or taurolidine. Consider possible interference with thyroid function indices in case of diagnostic thyroid tests.
