Description
IKEN UP PLUS
Complementary feed for medium and large sized dogs
Description
To compensate for increased specific nutritional needs in metabolic stress situations such as:
- demanding sports and strenuous conditions;
- surgical interventions;
- prolonged fasting;
- trauma and/or prolonged immobility;
- febrile and debilitating diseases;
- heart disease;
- liver failure and/or renal failure;
- elderly and debilitated animals;
- animals with problems with regular growth, especially muscular growth.
PROPERTY
Stress and emergency situations, even pathological or para-physiological, determine particular metabolic conditions, with needs in certain nutrients and micronutrients completely different from the norm, quantitatively very high and proportionate to the cause that provoked them. These needs are difficult to compensate with normal nutrition if not supplemented with a targeted integration. Not compensating for these deficiencies can lead to reversible and even irreversible biological damage, certainly leads to a recovery of the state of normality in much longer times.
In the case of stress due to pathological situations, specific supplementation is essential to compensate for not only the greater losses but also the deficiencies due to an incomplete diet and to ensure the necessary efficiency of the immune system.
IKEN UP PLUS for medium and large dogs is formulated in palatable tablets; the flavourings contained in Iken Up Plus are made exclusively of high-quality protein hydrolysates of porcine origin, non-allergenic (average molecular weight less than 1000 Dalton) and can be taken by subjects allergic to animal proteins. IKEN UP PLUS is designed to provide in adequate quantities all the factors that can be lacking in stressful situations.
Branched chain essential amino acids: L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, L-Valine, essential for the biosynthesis of proteins in muscle mass and cardiac muscle and primary energy source in both exercise and pathological stress, modulators of protein metabolism.
Amino acids with particular metabolic fates:
- L-Arginine and DL-Methionine, for the synthesis of creatine, energy substrate for muscle contraction and physiological buffer;
- L-Lysine and DL-Methionine, for the synthesis of carnitine;
- DL-Methionine, the methylating amino acid par excellence;- L-Alanine, a glycogenic amino acid;
- L-Arginine and L-Aspartic Acid, essential in the process of eliminating ammonia.
- L-Carnitine, modulator of the use of fatty acids for energy purposes at cardiac and muscular level; to save the consumption of proteins and sugars and prevent the depletion of muscle tissue and acidosis from stress.
Vitamins B1, B2, B6, B12 and D-Pantothenic Acid, to compensate for the increased consumption during stress and to maintain intact and at adequate levels all the coenzyme systems that use these vitamins as prosthetic groups, in particular Pantothenic Acid for coenzyme A.
Antioxidants, a complete pool capable of counteracting oxidative stress of any origin: the different antioxidants are not always interchangeable, therefore total protection from the peroxidation of cellular constituents is carried out by their combined action, essential for neutralizing the large quantity of free radicals produced in stress at the sites of formation and in the physiological situations in which they form.
- Primary antioxidants (or essential antioxidant enzymes): Superoxide dismutase and Glutathione peroxidase (Selenium) continuously eliminate free radicals at the cellular level.
- Secondary antioxidants: Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Octacosanol, which are not renewable after they have performed their action, repair molecules damaged by oxidative processes.
- Vitamin C and Vitamin E are also essential for their intrinsic vitamin action; their consumption is very high in situations of stress.
Magnesium, Iron, Zinc To compensate for high losses and limit the consequences of deficiency.
- Magnesium: for cellular homeostasis and to prevent neuromuscular reactive instability.
- Iron: to prevent the deficiency of cellular enzymes essential for cell life and energy production.
- Zinc: to prevent the peroxidation of membrane phospholipids and maintain adequate levels of the enzymatic systems (more than seventy) in which it participates.

How to use
One tablet per 5 kg of animal weight once a day for the first week, then one tablet per 10 kg of animal weight once a day for at least one week. Depending on the degree of stress, the daily amount and the period of use can be modified at the discretion of the Veterinarian.
The tablets are palatable to animals: they can be administered directly or crushed into a little palatable food.
The tablets can be divided into four parts to facilitate adjustment to the weight: place the tablet on a flat surface with the side with the scored lines facing upwards; apply pressure with the thumb in the centre of the tablet to obtain the division into 4 quarters.
The quantities indicated guarantee compliance with the maximum levels of each additive in the daily ration.
Warnings
Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Conservation
Store in a cool, dry place.
Validity with intact packaging: 36 months.
Format
