Description

Gastropiù Sachets

Food supplement with patented formula.
The ingredients can be useful for those who, for various reasons, need help in maintaining the correct balance of homeostasis of the gastric and esophageal mucosa.
The combination of ingredients is patented because thanks to this formulation the alginate polymer and the hyaluronic acid gel are formed simultaneously, thus allowing the rapid incorporation of the alginate polymer into the hyaluronic acid gel even before the alginate polymer precipitates into the acidic contents of the stomach.

Information on ingredients taken from international literature
Hyaluronic acid : hyaluronic acid is one of the fundamental components of the connective tissue of humans and mammals. Its concentration in the body tissues tends to decrease with age. Chemically, it can be defined as a non-sulfurized glycosaminoglycan without a protein core, with an unbranched polysaccharide chain produced by the condensation of thousands of disaccharide units formed in turn by residues of hyaluronic acid and N-acetylglucosamine linked together, alternatively, by glycosidic bonds 131 -> 4 and 31 -> 3, as well as by intramolecular hydrogen bonds, which stabilize their conformations. At physiological pH, the carboxylic groups of the glucuronic units are ionized, giving hyaluronate high polarity, and consequently high solubility in water. Thanks to this property, hyaluronate is able to complex with many water molecules, reaching a high level of hydration, forming a gel. Hyaluronic acid also plays an important role in tissue repair and protection.
Under normal conditions, proteoglycans in the ground substance of connective tissue mucosa represent an effective barrier against bacterial invasion and spread. If this barrier is damaged, topical application of high molecular weight hyaluronic acid, thanks to its macroaggregating effect on proteoglycans, can promote its reconstruction. The macroaggregating effect of hyaluronic acid on proteoglycans inhibits edema formation. During the initial phase of inflammation, hyaluronic acid is secreted by the body as a natural response of the tissue against the damaging action of bacterial hyaluronidases and edema formation. Hyaluronic acid has therefore been used as an anti-inflammatory, anedematous and protective agent of the gastric and laryngoesophageal mucosa (1).
Sodium alginate : Alginates are neutral polysaccharide polymers isolated from brown algae (Phacophycae) and are classified as dietary fiber. They are made up of a percentage of D-mannan L-glucuronic acids. In the presence of gastric acid, alginates precipitate to form a gel, which tends to form a floating barrier at the entrance of the stomach (2). Clinical studies have shown that the pH of the barrier composed of alginate is neutral, while the gastric pH below the barrier is decidedly acidic (2). These studies show that the presence of alginates forms an effective barrier against gastric acidity; they also show that there is a rapid reduction in symptoms related to esophageal reflux (3, 4). Recent studies have confirmed the efficacy of alginates in reducing symptoms related to esophageal reflux (5).
