Description
Disposable device in powder sachets for extemporaneous oral suspension.
Oral treatment of acute and chronic diarrhea and painful symptoms of gastrointestinal disorders. Indicated in the prophylaxis of diarrhea from radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
A sachet of Catidral plus contains diosmectite and electrolytes. Diosmectite is a natural clay characterized by a crystalline structure in very fine overlapping lamellae that gives it a high absorbent power, such as to make it capable of incorporating the liquids present in the intestinal lumen, thus increasing the consistency of the stool and slowing its expulsion. In this way, Catidral plus can also reduce the risk of dehydration resulting from diarrhea and promote, thanks to its content of electrolytes in balanced doses, the restoration of the compromised hydro-saline balance. The absorbent power of diosmectite also allows it to interact with the glycoproteins of the mucous film that covers the gastroduodenal wall, modifying its physical characteristics in order to form a protective gel.
How to use
Each sachet should be used only once after opening.
The contents of one sachet should be dissolved in 100 ml of water. To obtain a homogeneous suspension, pour the powder into a glass, add water and mix vigorously with a teaspoon. It is recommended to take it away from meals.
Catidral plus should not be used for more than 5 consecutive days: if symptoms persist, consult your doctor.
For the first three days:
- Children aged 2 years and over: up to 4 sachets per day.
- Adults: up to 6 sachets per day.
Subsequently continue with halved dosage until the diarrhea is completely resolved.
Components
One sachet of powder contains:
- diosmectite 3 g;
- sodium chloride 0.263 g;
- potassium chloride 0.0373 g;
- anhydrous tripotassium citrate 0.162 g;
- trisodium citrate 0.147 g;
- glucose (anhydrous dextrose) 1.982 g.
Excipients: partially hydrolyzed guar gum, vanillin, sodium saccharin, silicon dioxide, cream flavouring, vanilla flavouring;
Colorant: beta-carotene.
Gluten free.
Warnings
Strictly consult your doctor in case of concomitant therapies.
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not use if the original packaging is not perfectly intact. Do not use after the expiry date.
The high absorbent power of diosmectite can interfere with the gastrointestinal absorption of some orally administered drugs, therefore any other oral therapies should be taken at a later time.
Do not administer to subjects suffering from chronic constipation or constipation.
In case of administration to diabetic subjects or those undergoing special diets, please note that Catidral plus contains sugars. If you are taking medications, consult your doctor before using the product.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, consult your doctor before taking the product.
Conservation
Store at temperatures between 0°C and 40°C.
Store at room temperature, avoiding exposure to light and heat, excessive humidity and contact with water.
The expiry date refers to the product in its intact packaging, stored correctly.
Validity with intact packaging: 24 months.
