Description
Ophthalmic solution
Hydroflood
Description
Ophthalmic solution containing sodium hyaluronate which, thanks to its muco-mimetic and pseudo-plastic properties, is distributed uniformly on the ocular surface forming a protective viscoelastic bandage. In this way, by performing a mechanical action ("barrier effect"), Idroflog stabilizes the tear film and reduces friction caused by eye movements and blinking, protects the surface of the eye by promoting repair processes resulting from suffering of the corneal epithelial cells due to hyposecretion of the tear film. In fact, in cases in which the glands responsible for secreting the film reduce, for various factors, their normal activity, the corneal surface remains more exposed to external insults. The latter, over time, cause a malfunction of the corneal epithelial cells with the associated risk of onset of annoying inflammatory processes. The application of the Idroflog bandage allows to protect the corneal surface from exposure to external insults and, thanks to the ancillary action of hydrocortisone sodium phosphate (low-dose cortisone agent, low anti-inflammatory power and short duration of action), helps to prevent the risk of any recurrence of inflammatory phenomena. Idroflog is intended for limited use over time and in any case under the direct control of a specialist doctor. Finally, Idroflog, thanks to its particular saline composition, restores and maintains at physiological levels the concentrations of important ions, such as sodium, potassium and magnesium, essential for the well-being of the ocular surface. The device does not contain preservatives.
Composition
Sodium hyaluronate 2 mg/ml, hydrocortisone sodium phosphate 10 mcg/ml, trisodium citrate, sodium chloride, potassium chloride, magnesium chloride, dibasic sodium phosphate, monobasic sodium phosphate, water for injections.
How to use
Idroflog must be dosed individually according to your condition and according to the recommendations of your ophthalmologist. In general, instill 1-2 drops of the solution into the conjunctival sac of the eye to be treated, 2-4 times a day. The total duration of treatment is 2-6 months but must be specifically established by the specialist doctor and in any case under his direct control (a follow-up every 30-45 days is recommended).
How to apply: detach a single vial from the strip. Remove the upper flap by twisting it. Instill 1-2 drops into the conjunctival sac, letting it fall from above. Idroflog can also be used when wearing contact lenses.
Warnings
The product, due to its viscoelastic properties, may cause blurred vision upon installation. Wait for this effect to wear off before driving or using machinery.
Idroflog is for external use only. It should not be used immediately before the administration of medicinal products for curative purposes, and within twenty minutes after the application of any topical pharmacological therapy. If during treatment you experience a worsening of symptoms, contact a doctor as soon as possible. Prolonged use may cause inconveniences: the total duration of treatment must be established by the ophthalmologist. If an inflammatory process is already underway, the specialist doctor will decide on the appropriate anti-inflammatory therapy in order to restore the physiological conditions of the ocular surface. To reduce the risk of contamination during use, it is advisable to open the aluminum pouch only in case of immediate subsequent use of the product. Avoid direct contact of the tip of the vial with the fingers, the eye, or any other surface. In rare cases, a slight blurring of vision has been observed upon instillation, which is due to the viscosity of the solution. A slight burning sensation may occur during instillation. This sensation, however, is destined to disappear. Contact your eye doctor if the symptoms persist. Following the instructions in the leaflet reduces the risk of side effects. The product is for single use: after the first use, throw away the vial even if it contains any residual solution.
Conservation
Store at a temperature between 2°C and 25°C.
Format
Pack containing 15 vials of 0.5 ml.
